  • Forward Controls Design Forward Assist Low Snag - Dimple - LSFA-AA

The Low Snag Forward Assist or better known as the LSFA is a collaborative design introduced by Forward Controls Design. Using the right handle of the charging handle, some can experience the problem of snagging on the rim of the forward assist. Forward Controls Design offers this rimless forward assist to solve that problem, making this part a game-changer that serves to improve the shooting experience. The LSFA is another sign of Forward Controls Designs' commitment to producing components that enhance every aspect of the shooter's experience.

    Features:

    • Smooth top and bottom to mitigate snagging
    • Increased plunger surface area
    • Machined from 4130 steel bar stock
    • Heat-treated with black nitride finish
    • Made in Texas, USA
The forward assist is a holdover feature from an older time. In essence, a forward assist is used to push the rifle's bolt carrier groups closed. To actuate it, you press the button on the forward assist assembly. This moves the bolt forward and chambers a round. The intended effect is usually to force a round into the chamber if it hangs up for any reason.

With that explained, what Forward Controls Design and Hodge Defense Systems Inc. did in their collaboration was to refine the forward assist to make it more practical, efficient, and basically, better. Born from the collaboration was the LSFA which has a smooth top and bottom to mitigate snagging, and increased plunger surface area for a more solid press, with its pad extending inwards. It wasn't all about efficiency and ease when designing the LSFA, the creators wanted to emphasize that the forward assist would be durable and long-lasting. Therefore, the LSFA is machined from 4130 steel bar stock and heat treated with a black nitride finish to increase its resistance against corrosion.
